Yes. SUV window tinting is legal in New Zealand provided the front side windows allow at least 35% visible light transmission (VLT) as required by NZTA (Waka Kotahi). Rear side windows and the rear windscreen have no minimum VLT requirement. Dr. Tint & Wrap installs only NZTA-compliant films on all SUV models.
SUV window tinting reduces cabin heat by blocking solar energy, protects leather and fabric upholstery from UV fading, cuts glare for safer driving, improves privacy for rear passengers, and adds a sleek, uniform appearance to larger vehicles.
Most SUV window tinting appointments at Dr. Tint & Wrap take between two and four hours depending on the number of windows, the film chosen, and the complexity of the vehicle's rear window shape. Curved or panoramic glass may require additional time.
Dr. Tint & Wrap offers several film ranges for SUVs including dyed, carbon, and ceramic films. Ceramic films are popular for SUVs because they deliver superior heat rejection without interfering with GPS, mobile, or dashboard technology signals.
After installation, avoid winding windows down for at least 48 hours and do not clean the interior of the glass for five to seven days to allow the adhesive to cure fully. Once cured, clean with a soft microfibre cloth and an ammonia-free glass cleaner.
